Science Communication is an integral part of academic life and increasingly recognized as an important task. This talk presents different arguments for scientists to become actively involved in science communication and discusses the role of researchers under different circumstances. The question of how to do science communication will be explored and different sources for further information will be provided. The talk also offers the opportunity to reflect on possible negative aspects of science communication.
