Guided Tour through the White Rose Memorial Exhibition | 10.10.2024 17:30 - 18:30 (Thu) |
An Event in the GraduateCenterLMU Doktorand*innentag 2024
From June 1942 to February 1943, students and a professor from LMU call for resistance against the National Socialist dictatorship and demand an end to the Second World War with six leaflets and wall inscriptions. While distributing the sixth leaflet, Hans and Sophie Scholl were arrested in the atrium of the university. Their arrest in this place marked the beginning of the suppression and destruction of the resistance group. The courage of the group, their values and goals are still exemplary today - and more relevant than ever: freedom, responsibility, justice, human dignity, conscience.
The one-hour tour around the White Rose Memorial and the university atrium takes a look at the group's actions and their guiding motives. The central content of the leaflets will be explored, as well as the expansion of resistance against the Nazi dictatorship beyond Munich and the history of remembrance of the White Rose since 1945.
