GraduateCenterLMU Online Workshop for Doctoral Candidates
Being visible online is increasingly relevant for researchers, whether for academic impact, collaboration, or career development beyond academia. This online workshop provides a practical introduction to digital visibility and helps participants make informed, sustainable choices about their online presence. The workshop covers the landscape of relevant platforms and channels, from LinkedIn and Bluesky to ResearchGate, academic websites, and blogs, and offers criteria for choosing the right channel for individual goals and audiences. Participants explore how to identify and reach their target audience, and why visibility matters as a career factor both within and outside academia. Practical tips and best practices for content creation and posting are part of the workshop program, with a focus on approaches that are realistic and scalable.
A central element of the workshop is the Content Studio: participants work through key decisions about their own online presence and leave with a personal starter pack, including a clear sense of which platforms suit them, what kind of content fits their goals, and concrete first steps.
The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as for researchers who are already active on platforms and want to develop their presence further.
