GraduateCenterLMU Workshop for Doctoral Candidates
This workshop focuses on improving doctoral candidates' abilities in composing and editing academic texts in English. The workshop will touch on the writing process as well as specific questions in language and style when writing in English. It is specifically designed to address the needs of second-language writers in an academic setting.
The workshop will include group sessions as well as time for individual work and 1:1 meetings between the participants and the instructor.
Workshop topics:
- Writing strategies and organization
- Key aspects of well-written texts: style and flow
- Understanding how punctuation, sentences, and paragraphs work
- Editing and finalizing a written project
Requirement: Participants will be asked to submit an excerpt of their current work in English at least 14 days in advance. The excerpt should be no more than 1,500 words in length.
Language of workshop: English
Target group: Doctoral candidates of LMU Munich from the Humanities and Social Sciences (the number of participants is limited)
Certificate of attendance: Participants will receive a certificate of attendance from the GraduateCenterLMU.
