Poster Design and Presentation

GraduateCenter^LMU Workshop for Doctoral Candidates

In this workshop, participants receive a practice-orientated introduction to the medium "scientific poster". In particular, participants will create and work on their own posters. They will learn which role posters play in scientific communication and how they can be used in a convincing manner. Step by step, they will learn what is important in terms of content and design when creating a poster. Participants will also practice translating their own research results into a clear and understandable poster representation. Furthermore, questions concerning the presentation will be addressed: how can a poster be presented effectively and what needs to be considered when talking to a specialist audience?

• Functions and possible uses of scientific posters
• Design elements: layout, structure, colors and font
• Selection and preparation of relevant content
• Software and tools for poster creation
• Presentation techniques and communication at the poster stand

Target group: Doctoral candidates of LMU Munich from the Natural and Life Sciences (the number of participants is limited)
